Whatever purists the game has tend to be disparaging about SH2 but it's secretly my favourite of all of them -- kingmaker only. The archives of custom maps kept me interested for years. People put a lot of effort into them. I started with SH1 and for me the game has always been about taking your time, constructing a defensible castle while seeing to the needs of its occupants and only later in the game do I like to start thinking about conquering my enemies. If I could change one thing about it, it'd be to make it possible to construct fortifications within your outer estates, even if they're only wooden ones. Overall though, a solid game.

Loved making castles and stuff and fought big games with like 3 enemy AI and 4 on my side and made the enemies weaker so that i could build my castle for like an hour and only then start attacking while the friendly AIs defended me. Damn you just brought out a crap load of nostalgia mate.
Of course i played AoE2 at the time as well. I actually still have the box, it was age of kings + the conquerors. The disc doesn't work anymore unfortunately, so i bought AoE2:HD around a year ago when i started playing again. It's amazing to be playing a game which is almost as old as me (im 20) and having more fun than in many modern games. • • • • • • •.
