Outlook For Mac Create Distro List

Google safe mode turn off. So I have run into some interesting behavior when trying to send a test distribution list that I create in Outlook and it has brought up some questions. Basically, I have some users that would like to share distribution lists with users outside of our network. To do so they want to email the list to the users personal email (yahoo, msn, etc). Emailing a list is easy enough to do with other internal network users, but when emailing a distribution list to these external accounts is when it gets fun.

So in testing, to keep it simple I have created a test DL list that contains a few manually entered SMTP addresses, no GAL users or Outlook personal contacts have been added. For testing I am trying to send to a yahoo account. What I have seen is that when I send the DL as an Outlook contact to the yahoo account, when it arrives to yahoo the attachment extension is now *.EML (which I beleive is Outlook Express?) I tested this with an MSN account and again the DL extension is changed to *.eml.

One of the most convenient and often overlooked features of Outlook is the ability to create a contact distribution list. There are times when you may have to send. Wacom cintiq 22hd driver for mac.

I thought I would then try sending as a vCard, but when a attach as a vCard, the distribution list is a TXT file. If I send a contact as a vCard the attachment is a vCard VCF. Is this normal for the attacment to be a TXT file when sending distro lists as a vCard? So for questions: -Why is the extension changing from *.msg to the *.eml extension?

I'm not sure when this is happening, is it happening on my Exchange system end or does yahoo or MSN change the extension? Can anyone else test this? -When sending a DL as a vCard is this normal for the attacment to be a TXT file instead of VCF?

When you click Forward Group > In Internet Format (vcard), the Personal Distribution List is attached to the subsequent e-mail as a txt file. The txt file will contain the PDL's Display Name and then the Memberlist.

External addresses list: Display As: name + SMTP address. GAL addresses list: Display: name + SMTP Address By forwarding the PDL as a txt file, anyone can receive the list. When forwarding as an Outlook Contact, it gets a bit strange.:-) You'll notice the attachment looks like a Distribution List icon from the mail message. When click Send, you can go into Sent Items and click on the attachment and preview the DL in the reading pane (assuming you have Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010). It displays just as it would if you opened the DL. If the recipient receives the message w/ attachment in Outlook, the attachment is going to save off an.msg file.

--This is the default file type for Outlook messages. To add the Distribution list to your Outlook Contacts folder, all you need to do is open the mail with attached item. --Now drag drop the attachment onto your Outlook Contacts folder. --The Distribution List will be added to your Contacts folder. Another way would be to add the 'Move to folder' command to the QAT and then you can select Copy to Folder and choose the Contact folder you want to put it in. If the mail client is Outlook Express or Windows Live, the attachment saves off as an eml file -which is the default file type for those messages.

Unfortunately, there's no way the non-Outlook clients can read view the attached item. --To make your group list and its members available to external users who may not have Outlook, you're going to need to forward it as a vcard. The recipients will receive the txt file containing the member's Name and SMTP address and do with it as they want. What I do think is a concern is that an Outlook user will receive a message with an.MSG attachment that when open the attachment.
